Kid friendly restaurants in and around Jozi!

Cafe Cielo

Avianto, Muldersdrift

I absolutely adore this restaurant. Being a popular wedding venue, the gardens are gorgeous and the setting is truly beautiful.

The chef gladly prepared kiddies meals for the little ones, which were not on the menu. We enjoyed a delicious meal, overlooking the pebble stone courtyard, chatting and taking in the beautiful surroundings. The children loved walking around and exploring the gardens.

After lunch we sat in the boma area with coffee and milkshakes before taking another stroll through the gardens. All in all, it was a delightful afternoon.

Home of The Chicken Pie

We took a short drive out into the open spaces of the country side to enjoy a leisurely Sunday lunch. The Home of the Chicken Pie has a variety of food options, champaign, coffees, wines and more (much more than chicken pie). In fact we didn't even order the pie.

The setting is beautiful and relaxing, overlooking a beautiful lake. It is really vibey on the weekend and the restaurant is full of friendly faces and families. The kids loved playing on the play ground, soccer field, zip line and mountain climb. The jungle gym equipment is a bit old, but it adds to the rustic feel and the kids were unbothered.

We walked around the little market shop after lunch and bought farm fresh treats and some trinkets.

It was a really lovely afternoon and we have to go back soon for the chicken pie.

Piccolo Famili Kitchen

We stumbled upon this great restaurant quite by accident. It has a great play area, child minders, pizza making, games and more. Awesome service and a yummy menu will keep you coming back for more. It has a Papachinos vibe but isn't quite as crowded. Weekends do get full so call for a reservation.

Tres Jolie

This past weekend we visited Tres Jolie in Ruimsig. What an awesome day! The atmosphere  was one of excitement and jubilation. It is a very busy venue, catering to birthday parties, baby showers, bachelorettes and restaurateurs all at the same time. This just added to the great vibe. The kids had so much fun with the wide range of activities offered. They ran in between the camel rides, animal farm, jumping castles, jungle gyms, mini fair rides, face painting, and pony rides. The staff was friendly and attentive and the hostess came around with a balloon for each child, this little touch was very well received and greatly appreciated by our kids. The prawns and pizza were delicious, while the other food was average.

We left feeling like we attended a kiddies carnival, it was so much fun. We will definitely be going back. When you go make sure to book a table outside which is close to the kids play areas so that you are able to keep an eye on your little ones.

Wild Eagle Spur

Now this restaurant had to make it on the site. Spur is a family fave for so many reasons, but not all are created equal. Wild Eagle Spur has a great play area, dedicated child minders and, in our experience, wonderful customer service.

We really feel at home at this Spur and the kids always have a great time. It has kept us going back time and time again. We even clebrated our daughter's third birthday at this great family spot.

Where are you favorite Spur restaurants? Let me know.

Cradle Moon Lakeside Game Lodge

We recently went for brunch, which turned into a late lunch at Cradle Moon. The venue offers beautiful surroundings, set in an animal and nature reserve. As you enter there are buck and zebra walking through the long grasses. The venue offers hikes and walks down to the dam, where I saw people catch and release fishing, and a swimming pool.

We enjoyed our leisurely day seated near the swimming pool, gazing out at the beautiful koppies and trees. The food was satisfactory and the day was well spent with family and friends.

There is a R30 per person conservation fee payable upon your exit.

The Eyrie- Eagle Canyon Golf Estate

We really love this fine dining restaurant. The Eyrie is classy and kid friendly.  The views of the golf course are beautiful, coupled with the exquisite décor, it’s a wonderful dining experience.

The kids really enjoy the food on the tasty kiddies menu.  They keep entertained in the indoor movie and play area as well as a playground outside.

Please note that bookings are essential. This is one not to miss.

Help At Home

This professional service provide an extensive list of helpers for your home. The ladies are often trained, have great references and background checks.

Help at Home also provide a nanny training course and medical aid, for a fee, for your domestic workers.

A fantastic service and a must have contact.,za

Cafe d' Art at Alice Art Gallery

A wonderful cafe serving breakfast and light lunch in beautiful surroundings. The cafe has seating outside in the garden, which is great for the little ones to have space. Not a full on kiddies restaurant but certainly kiddie friendly.

I love walking through the gallery with my kids and exposing them to art. Of course touching the art work is not allowed and noise levels must be kept to a minimum but an all around great experience with the kids.

Sleepy Time Music

Rainforest Music: Nature's Lullabies

The music on this CD (also available on Apple Music) is so soothing and automatically puts the kids into a sleepy trance.

The classical music, beautifully blended in with sounds of nature, will be a wonderful addition to your kids night time routine.

Berlin Pub in Ruimsig

Berlin Pub offers great “pub” favourites and a tasty kids menu. The food is always fresh, delicious and the service is warm and friendly.

There is a Lapa area where rugby games, soccer matches or any sporting events are screened. It’s a great place to come with Dad and the kids. There is live music, sand art, a playground, driving track, and trampoline.

What keeps us coming back is the family atmosphere, friendly service and great food. It’s sure to be a fun filled family outing for each member as all your needs are catered to. In fact we even often go without the kids on a date or with friends to watch a game. Caters for all.
